Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

Start on Kilimanjaro's quieter northern side, trekking through pine forest to Simba ("First Cave") Camp.

Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp

Climb through moorland with views toward Kenya, camping at Kikelewa beneath the jagged Mawenzi peak.

Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

A short, steep climb to Mawenzi Tarn, set in a dramatic alpine bowl beneath Mawenzi's rocky spires, ideal for acclimatization.

Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut

Cross the lunar-like Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo Hut, where you'll rest before the summit attempt.

Kibo Hut to Summit & Descent to Horombo Hut

A midnight start for the summit push to Uhuru Peak, followed by a long descent to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.

Descend through moorland and forest back to Marangu Gate, collecting your summit certificate on arrival.
