Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Cave Camp

A steep, direct climb through dense rainforest on Kilimanjaro's least-used trail, camping at Umbwe Cave.

Umbwe Cave to Barranco Camp

Continue climbing along a forested ridge, emerging onto moorland at Barranco Camp beneath the towering Barranco Wall.

Barranco Camp Acclimatization Day

A short acclimatization walk toward the Lava Tower and back, helping your body adjust before continuing higher.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Scramble up the Barranco Wall in the morning, then cross rolling terrain to Karanga Camp, your last water point before summit night.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

A shorter day to Barafu ("Base") Camp, resting and preparing your gear for the summit attempt ahead.

Barafu to Summit & Descent to Mweka Camp

Set off just after midnight for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, watching sunrise from the roof of Africa before descending to Mweka Camp.
